Yesterday, March 14, 2010 (the day Manny Pacquiao had beaten Akon) I turned on the TV to watch one of my favorite show on ABS CBN, Going Bulilit to relax and unwind after a tiring Sunday. However to my disappointment, the Showbiz talkshow, “The Buzz” was still on and guess what, the feature is about Ruffa’s alleged walk out last weekend.

I thought it would be over because it was almost 7PM and they are way over their time slot. To my dismay, Kris Aquino had taken another 10 minutes of lengthy declamation which unnecessarily touched on her family and the 2010 Elections.

Kris was obviously campaigning for her brother Noynoy Aquino, the standard bearer of the Liberal Party. It was another FREE advertisement for his candidacy.

I’m sorry but I don’t buy it. It was staged. It was planned but the acting was not moving. And the background music made it more unnatural.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) should do something about this. It was practically blatant disregard of the laws on fair elections, if there is such. Although we have freedom to campaign for the people we believe suitable to lead our country forward, we should also set our limits. Kris Aquino should not use any of her programs to directly or indirectly campaign for his brother.

The ABS CBN management should also control and sanction talents if they want to maintain their credibility. Things like this could lead to the downfall of their network in the long run.

Last Wednesday, March 3, 2010, my site was hacked. At around 11am, I tried visiting my blog and main sites but they were down. I really don’t know what to do because as I’ve said, I’m not a techie guy. When I started blogging, simple browsing and Microsoft Word are the only things that I know. I don’t know about codes and I don’t really care.

What I know is plain search engine optimization, affiliate marketing and pure making money online techniques. I lack the technical know-how in software and hardware so I believe I am an easy target. I am very vulnerable in these kinds of attacks.

I have expected this to happen as my site climb fast in Alexa ranking in less than a year. I have been featured in Manuel Viloria’s site, (http://www.viloria.net/archives/pinoy-internet-marketing/) recognizing my capability in SEO and traffic generation through social media marketing. Some would think I’m a good target and easy as well – VERY EASY.

USAToday have featured an article explaining “How cybercriminals invade social networks, companies”. I am suspecting that the exploit was caused by clicking malicious applications from either Facebook or Twitter in which I am a heavy user due to the nature of my business. Another cause might be the hundreds of spam messages that I receive daily.

I am also considering the new Wordpress plug-in (WPExitWindow) created by Bill Mcrea which I have installed in my blog last week to be the culprit. I may be wrong but this is what I feel. It might also be the FREE Wordpress themes that I installed because I was testing for a clean and organized theme for my blog. Or my hosting was compromised? That I cannot say.

Honestly, I am really pissed off! Who wouldn’t?

This is sabotage! I have dedicated my time and energy building this site for almost a year and now I have a dilemma whether to keep this or to stay underground again. I have a vision of helping others succeed online but others are bringing me down. Is this crab mentality? I think so!

Thanks to some online friends who helped me figure out this exploit especially to Moses Villena, who shared this link: http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/warning-website-virus-attack This gave me the idea about the problem.

I logged on through my FTP access (I’m using Filezilla by the way which is FREE) and searched for the index.php and index.html files and guess here’s what I found.

These are malicious scripts so I tried to delete them manually. And my blog was up. I’m not really sure if I resolved the issue. It took me hours to clean the php files. (I messed around with the codes knowing that it could fuck up my entire blog if I deleted important scripts but who cares, I’m desperate).

My AVG still detects some exploits:

Please inform me if your anti-virus program detects any exploit when you visit this blog. If the problem still persists, I’m planning to take this down completely so I won’t infect other PC.

And if that is the case, I will definitely go back to the life of an underground online marketer which I lived from April 2007 up to April 2009.

We’ll I won’t share any money making secrets by then and I hope that the less than 1 year existence of Making Money Online Philippines blog has inspired people that you can definitely succeed as a blogger and internet marketer. One can definitely earn BIG TIME without leaving the comforts of your home!

Applying for work abroad is not an easy thing to do especially for fresh grads or those with no experience yet. In the Philippine scenario, there is job mismatch and there are not enough hospital jobs to accommodate the number of graduates each year.

Now, if you have the required experience, there are lots of fake recruiters that will give offer that is hard to resist. So always make sure to check whether the Agency is accredited by POEA or if their accreditation is not yet expired.

Some agencies are exploiting newly registered nurses by giving employment offers with very low salary. Basic salary for nurses in Saudi should be SR 2,250. So if someone is offering you a salary lower than that, please do not accept.

I am quite disappointed with PESO Legazpi (a government arm that is supposed to look after the welfare of nurses abroad) which offered a basic salary of twenty one thousand pesos (Php21,000) only. Again, evaluate first before grabbing any offers.

My girlfriend has a pending contract with EVA Care group through IPAMS but because there is currently no visa number available for Professional immigrants in US, she tried applying for Middle East employment through POEA. Now, she’s just waiting for her Visa.

Currently, the Saudi Ministry of Health is still in need for more Nurses. As far as I can remember they will need 3000 Female Nurse Specialists and 3000 or more Female General Ward Nurses. They also need Respiratory Therapists, X-Ray technicians, Pharmacists and etc. Another set of delegates from Saudi will come this June (or earlier) to conduct an interview for qualified applicants.

Here are the lists of requirements for Nurses who want to get employed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:

1. College diploma/ High School Diploma

2. PRC board rating

3. PRC board certificate

4. Transcript of records

5. Valid PRC license

6. Employment certificate/s (of at least 2 years work experience in one position)

Damn! We were close to being scammed yesterday at TipidPC (Buy and Sell Computer Hardware, Parts and Peripherals).

Because we were so eager to find a quality but low priced laptop or notebook, ayun yung napala namin. My girlfriend needs a light weight notebook with a good battery life to bring to Saudi any time soon so TipidPC is the most trusted site to look for cheap laptops. I have successfully bought items through the site last year so I trust this site na.

My girl friend and I were looking for cheap laptops online for almost a week now. Due to desperation, we found this ad “Sony Vaio NR110E Laptop for only 10,000 pesos”. We contacted the seller and he emailed the specs, below is the email screenshot:

Who wouldn’t be enticed with that kind of offer?

After our text and Facebook chat, the seller with username (mikedelerosa) asked for Php 2,000 initial deposit through LBC to reserve the merchandise. He said someone is also interested to get the Vaio so if I wanted the unit, I should make a reservation.

Seller even offered to send the unit after he received the reservation fee. He assured that he is not a SCAMMER because I have his address. But hey, I’m not that dumb! Address is not required in claiming LBC money transfer and you can get any fake IDs at Recto.

Intuition tells me there’s something wrong so I decided to check on the cell number that he is using. And BHAM! As expected, Google results….It’s a scam!

This scammer is using the name Michael dela Rosa this time. He even added me at Facebook but now I can’t find his account. Maybe I was blocked so I can’t view his account anymore.

I am a big fan of Twitter. If you are not familiar, Twitter is a free social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author’s profile page and delivered to the author’s subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. Absolutely there are many advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, Twitter has made communications super fast considering that we are coming from the third world. (A few years ago, communications with our relatives overseas were expensive. Now, you can easily send your message to almost anyone in an instant as long as he/she has an account (of course!). It’s the SMS of internet. You can let out your views for the world to see. Your message can be read anywhere in the world.

If ever there would be another martial law or any unconstitutional move from the government, we can effortlessly communicate through Twitter. People can easy mass up to protest and express their disgust. We can even get international media attention instantly. Local and international media like ABS CBN, GMA7, CNN, BBC have their own accounts. This is actually new media. Just follow their accounts and you’ll get up to date news.

I remember using this tool during the height of typhoon “Ondoy”. I believe I was the first to warn people about the Ondoy Virus. Some people (maybe from software companies) exploited that time when the keyword search about “ondoy” was expected to go up. Through Twitter, I had the opportunity to caution people from clicking suspicious websites. Thanks to Twitter, I have talked to celebrities, bloggers and prominent personalities. Some people that I have talked through Twitter were Julius Babao, Christine Bersola Babao, Sitti, Maxene Magalona, TJ Manotoc, Bianca Gonzales, Assunta de Rossi, etc. They have helped to prevent the virus from flourishing online. Some bloggers also featured my post to warn their avid visitor of that said issue.

It was even featured in the evening news, I just don’t remember if it was in TV Patrol or Saksi. For a newbie blogger, it was an accomplishment to be recognized (in a good sense) and helped other online users.

But on the negative side, Twitter is a very good avenue for stalkers or haters. You can easily send messages to celebrities. Imagine, if President Gloria has a Twitter account, you can easily curse her if you’re one of those dissatisfied with her performance.

One could easily send nasty comments to celebrities that you hate. Take for example Angelica Panganiban’s case.

I remember watching ABS CBN’s E-Live segment last Saturday saying that she had decided to close her account because someone is sending her nasty messages and personal attacks.

This is a good avenue for cursing because you have a cloak of anonymity while online. Anyone can create fictitious accounts with a different name.

In order to have an account, one simply needs:
1. Working Email Address
2. Username of your choice
3. Password of your choice

Then you’re fine.

You can follow people and get updates from those that you want to stalk. You can get instant news or views from people you follow. It’s an instant form of interaction.

Imagine how powerful this tool is. Just follow celebrities like Ashton Kutcher or Oprah Winfrey if you want to know what he or she had for lunch or dinner or their views on certain issues. I guess a number of Pinoy Celebrities have their own account at present. Just search for their name when you have created your account.

And kindly follow me if you would like to get updates on how I make money online. I’m sure that would be an interesting topic rather than spending your time playing online games that eats up much of your time.

1. Go to “my Financial Services” tab, – “Bills Payment” then “Pay Merchants”

2. Check if you can see the account enrolled at Merchant/Prod Type/Subscriber No.

If you can see the info, then you have successfully enrolled your SmartBro account. Now you don’t need to visit Smart Wireless Centers to pay for your bills.

All you need to do is type the amount then click submit. And you’ve paid your bills in less than 20 seconds.

I’ve been working online since April 2007 and I can say that this is a legitimate home based business. The desperation to quit from Sykes Asia, Inc. because of an incompetent (sorry for the term) supervisor had changed my life. Truly god has plans for us. I only had 1,000pesos allowance for a month and yet these students spend 3-6 hours playing online. What a waste of hard-earned money).

I have expected this problem to occur before I have graduated in college. I was lucky not to experience 1k per unit in UP Manila and availed STFAP bracket with 75% off tuition fee for my first 2 years. But again, something’s wrong with STFAP then.

Education is not really the priority of the government, that’s what I can say. I remember the issue during my stay in UPManila was the “selling of lands in UP Diliman and other state universities”. Instead of investing in education and developing this idle lands for the use of future generation, authorities wanted to sell them for profit arguing that it is additional revenue for the government. Better if they re-invest or diversify, but I doubt, baka sa bulsa lang ng iilan napupunta ang pera. (How about if the government tries to make money online, hahaha)

THE UNIVERSITY IN CRISIS

A crisis is well underway when people who make up an institution are responsibly aware of shared values that facilitate the attainment of their common goals and recognize that the same values are threatened. The issues being raised by various sectors in the different constituent units of the University of the Philippines System are sufficiently alarming for they cast considerable doubt on the UP Administration’s commitment to good governance and democratization.

The Large Lecture Class Scheme (LLCS) which converts the regular class size of every General Education subject from 30-40 to 150-200 in UP Los Banos will be effective by the first semester of AY 2010-2010 according to a memorandum released by Chancellor Luis Velasco on January 4, 2009. This decision was arrived at without substantive and participative consultation with students and faculty. The LLCS has ushered in the largest, most relentless opposition in UPLBs recent history.

In January 14, 2009, Dean Enrique Avila of UP Visayas Cebu College (UPVCC) announced the suspension of the UP Visayas Cebu High School (UPVCHS) admission test in consonance with his proposal to phase out the secondary institution. The reason for this drastic move is UPVCC’s bid for becoming an autonomous constituent unit of UP, hence the need to rechannel resources.

Both cases reveal the setbacks of commercialization espoused by the Roman Administration and the violation of the principles of democratic governance which the University is supposed to uphold. When proposals are turned to decisions made behind closed doors, and when the same decisions bear the effect of the abolition of educational institutions in the case of UPVCC and the contractualization of labor or even job loss for the untenured faculty; and the steady decline of general education on account of large class size in the case of UPLB, any university aiming for survival must rethink its dogmatic commitment to rationalization schemes.

A series of huge and furious protests earlier this month were undertaken by hospital staff, students and concerned faculty from the Philippine General Hospital, UP-Manila and UP-Diliman to condemn the refusal of President Emerlinda Roman to install Jose C. Gonzales PGH Director. The vigorous protests based on sound arguments and just ground resulted in the swearing in of Dr. Jose C. Gonzales as the PGH Director, duly elected by the Board of Regents on December 18, 2009.

UP students across the nation are outraged by what they claim as a systematic violation of their right to representation in the University’s highest policy-making body. The various charges against Student Regent Charisse Banez, now under appeal, have also been used to threaten her of a denial of participation in the BOR. This situation is reflective of the Administration’s proclivity to silence the voice of the studentry in crafting decisions that greatly shape the quality of education.

The long and drawn-out tenure application of Sociology Professor Sarah Raymundo, that had gone through the process of appeal and denied twice by the offices of the Chancellor and the President have elicited the most unyielding objections from local and international scholars, students and university unions. Professor Raymundo’s has proven that when the university institutionalizes and proclaims its academic standards, the public stakes its claim on it. Her tenure application has exposed not only the arbitrariness of the tenure process but also the Administration’s disposition on not granting permanency on activist professors. Despite the series of denials from different administrative levels, Professor Raymundo’s case has not been discussed in a manner that is substantive and observant of the procedures approved by University bodies.

The cases stated above are by no means separate. They are testimonies to the crises of good governance and democratization that plague the UP system. They raise fundamental questions, beyond political stakes, on our ability as members of an academic institution to oppose grave abuses of discretions and to assert that the ideals of a democratic institution should be actualized. It is in this spirit that we call upon the Board of Regents to heed our call to question the corporatist claims of the Roman Administration. There is no better time other than this moment of crisis to take another look at another vision of our pact to good governance and democratization.

Saying that when he “goes off on one” it may take a few reads until you get it but when you do it’s just shear genius. Some of the topics in my opinion could have been covered a little more, then others went into great detail. You also get his 5 Blogging Commandments For 2010 that you must follow to give you blogs the greatest success in 2009 and keep them future proofed. This should be printed out and put on the wall of every online marketer without a doubt! His book starts off with market research (so that you are making the most of your time) to building your blogging empire. Everything is covered in this new outing that helps bloggers withtodays online issues regarding making the all mighty search engines happy.

Final Verdict: if you are out there in the blogging world and want to make money the easy way then I highly recommend Blogging To The Bank 2010.

Why work harder than you need to as the new techniques are there ready for you to simply implement.

Early this evening, I received a text message from a college friend and a kababayan (also from Oas, my hometown) who’s working at GMA 7. Somewhat got me disappointed because I am committed (just kidding, patay ako kay kumander neto). hahaha
