As a homebased freelancer doing some affiliate marketing, blogging, search engine optimization (SEO) and social media marketing (SMM) tasks for US and UK clients, one of the major concerns is how to get paid for my services while here in the Philippines.

Three years ago, I had no idea about this money transfer service because we don’t have relatives abroad sending remittances. But with the nature of my job, I became knowledgeable about numerous ways on how to send money to the Philippines.

Important note however, that 4.99USD transaction fee is ONLY APPLICABLE if you pay through a US Bank Account. If you use credit cards, transaction fees are relatively higher.

Xoom is still the best way to send money to the Philippines especially those who do not have a bank account. Unlike Paypal, one could claim the money by just presenting a valid identification card with photo and of course the Xoom Transaction Number and relevant information.

You would need to use the info on the acknowledgment receipt sent to both the sender and the receiver which looks like this.

BDO Online Banking to Pay SmartBro and Other Bills

The other day, I shared to you the broadband connection that I am using and that is SmartBro. For more than 2 years as a subscriber, I never had major problems with their service. Making money online is never affected. If ever asked if I could recommend SmartBro, Yes! I would definitely recommend! (Ayan libreng advertisement na yan! Baka pwede ako maging endorser. lol)

Today as promised, I will teach you how to enroll your SmartBro account to your Banco De Oro (BDO) online banking. Unfortunately, I can only show you BDO online banking because that’s what I’m using.

Here are the simple steps:

1. Log-in to you BDO Online Banking account.

2. Once logged in, Go to “my Profile” tab, – “Merchants” then Click “Enroll Merchants”

3. Select “SMART COMMUNICATIONS, INC.” for Merchant Name field

4. Select “SIBS (Digital Mobile)” for Product Type

5. Enter your Subscriber No (account number) and Subscriber Name as reflected in your Statement of Account and Click Internet banking button below

6. Then Click Submit. Are you’re done.

To verify if you have successfully enrolled your SmartBro account:

1. Go to “my Financial Services” tab, – “Bills Payment” then “Pay Merchants”

2. Check if you can see the account enrolled at Merchant/Prod Type/Subscriber No.

If you can see the info, then you have successfully enrolled your SmartBro account. Now you don’t need to visit Smart Wireless Centers to pay for your bills.

All you need to do is type the amount then click submit. And you’ve paid your bills in less than 20 seconds.

You can spend more time with your family and your business. You can even try to make money online like I do.

BDO Online Banking: Change in Retail Internet Banking Access Control Parameters

Effective 17 November 2009, the following enhancements have been implemented in myBDO Internet Banking:

The usual Mandatory Password Change (Password Expiry) was 120 days. It was shortened into 90 days.

The Unsuccessful Log-in attempts (Invalid Password Tries) permitted that was previously 5 tries was lowered into 3 tries.

This is to ensure the confidentiality of our accounts and personal information every time we visit their website. BDO assures that they pay utmost attention to system security in line with its Privacy Policy.

It is good to know that our money is safe with BDO. My three accounts are all safe. =)
