My Great Web page

After making a blog post yesterday about Commission on Elections (COMELEC) website being down for several days, their official website is now up and running.

I just hope they have finally resolve their issue.

Just a suggestion, maybe COMELEC should invest in a better webhosting and web design. They can even outsource this aspect.

However, they should make sure it won’t be compromised to hacking. But I think there will be no problem because only public documents will be posted on the site.

What do you think?

You can visit the Official website at: http://www.comelec.gov.ph/

comelec website, just any other site out there is always susceptible to hacking. it has nothing to do with host servers as some stupido believes, blaming all downed sites as server’s incapacities. servers are designed to withstand brutal attacks from hackers; its the web’s formats that are vulnerable to these hackers.
thats why, it is imperative that popular sites must install anti-hacking softwares. web formats such as joomla, phpnuke & wordpress are the popular formats and are favorites for hacking.
to blame servers as the culprits for downed sites is just saying that i can cure cancer when the person who said it is not even a doctor nor an oncologist. maybe he is just a charlatan who just wnats to say something just for the sake of saying something.
the comelec site is a stable site and is hosted in a very secure hosting platform. so please be careful in assuming that servers compromise a site. that is just an irresponsible statement or even a shallow opinion – just written to improve one blog’s SEO.

Hi Sir Gary,

Thank you for clearing things out. I see that you are very knowledgeable about the technical stuff. It was just an honest statement from a non-techie blogger like me.

However, isn’t it ironic that COMELEC even dared hackers to infiltrate their system and offered 100 million pesos to someone who could hack the software that will be used in the upcoming poll automation, when they can’t even maintain 100% uptime of their official website? And it was not just hours but days.

If that is the case, do you believe that the results of this May 10 elections can be rigged?

Again, I appreciate your comments.

Ronald
