It is good to note that this year’s Oblation Run in the University of the Philippines Manila was featured in AsianCorrespondent.com

Students at the University of the Philippines in Manila took part in the annual “oblation run” on Friday, December 11, 2009, running naked around the campus to the delight of a huge crowd of spectators.

The annual tradition is organized by members of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity, who get volunteer members (NOT neophytes) to take part.

This year, about 60 members of the fraternity volunteered to run.

A mixture of screaming female students and curious onlookers lined the hallways to see the naked runners pass by.

The streaking students chose to raise the issue of climate change this year, in light of the series of debates ongoing in Copenhagen.

The naked ritual is said to have been inspired by the university’s iconic symbol, the Oblation, a bronze sculpture of a nude man, with arms outstretched and face raised to the sky.
