Is it Christmas yet?
It is December and the wind is getting colder but somehow the atmosphere becomes warmer—not to mention fuzzy—but we like it admit it or not. Thanks to family and friends who all make our lives better and more worthy of living, Christmas day is one great holiday everybody watches out for. Aside from good food, wine and merry-making, gifts are also big hits especially with the kids.
We celebrate Christmas longer than any other country. Christmas for us actually starts when the “-ber” months kick in so this means September then all the way through January until the Feast of the Three Kings. Most houses put up their trees as early as and take it down right after the “Three Kings”. That’s quite a long time to get into the festivities but we all love it and we look forward to it each year.
Most of our fondest memories are from our past Christmases and Christmases yet to spend, from the time we are old enough to remember and will probably be until the day we die. This is perhaps why most of us try our very best to make it special each year. Many might not agree with me but whether we spend it alone or with our beloved circle, Christmas is always worth celebrating. All we need is to look deeper and really see what its true message is about–some creativity will always help.
Now that we are only several days away from “the day”, what are you thinking of? Are you worried of the expenses that Christmas brings? Don’t you think it would make all the difference in the world if I ask you instead who you are thinking of instead of what? Keep in mind that food on the table and money and gifts are there to consume and spend but what will all these be if we are not around the people who love us most on that special occasion? Remember, making others happy and giving yourself in service to them is definitely more worthwhile.
Christmas is made even more festive because of the joy we feel in our hearts. Let us all go back and rediscover who put that joy in our hearts in the first place—our Lord, our families, and our friends. When we have done this, we can look forward to many more Christmases knowing that we have the best reason to celebrate, not only Christmas, but every single day of the year!
