I also thank Raul for bringing in the side of our good Senator.

Here’s Mr. Cervantes apology from Facebook:

Again, I humbly apologize for the confusion.

I too have added to the confusion.

But is it really right to make people wait for the relief goods for hours?

Just a thought.

I email Senator Gordon if this is true. In the spirit of fairness this is his reply:

Thanks Raul. I was informed by my own children of said post. I was not able to go to Novaliches evacuation centers yesterday. I was only able to go to the Macapagal Elementary School in Tatalon, QC; Benitez Elementary school in Sta. Lucia, QC; Nangka Elementary School in Marikina , and; H. Bautista Elementary School in Marikina where we did clean up operations and installed bladders for adequate drinking water for evacuees. There is no such protocol but there was added security measures as the US Ambassador joined the distribution effort day.

Criticism is par for the course for being a public official. This also happened last year during Typhoon Frank and the MV Asuncion tragedy. Again, my name was used and included in a list of “heartless” lawmakers who joined the President to the US. There was no Facebook post then but the email spread and columnists and bloggers wrote about it. The truth was that on the supposed day of the flight to the US I went to Iloilo and Aklan to conduct rescue and relief efforts. I had to delegate my role in the official trip of negotiating WWII Veterans Benefits with counterparts in Capitol Hill, Washington, DC to my colleagues in the Lower House by phone.

I appreciate your concern but let us focus on the current disaster especially now that a new Typhoon Pepeng is now upon us.

Thank you for bringing this up. At least the name of the good Senator and Head of the Phil. National Red Cross is cleared. Again, I am not in any way connected and this blog never and will never be used to malign personalities.
