“I guess I am the first to blog about this and there are a lot who doubted my intent. Now I have proven you that this is REAL!”

In a statement, Trend Micro Senior Threat Analyst Joseph Pacamara found several malicious websites that when visited, will take the user to other landing websites that contained the executable file “soft_207.exe”.

This file contains a hidden Trojan called TROJ_FAKEAV.BND, which masquerades as a fake antivirus application.

Below is my original post:

Hey guys,

This is a warning! I know how important internet is in the current time. We can get instant updates wherever side of the planet you are in.

The latest search trends in Google that we may have are:

1. Ondoy Flood

2. Ondoy Update

3. Ondoy Typhoon

because of the storm that recently hit Manila and left thousands of families homeless, devastated and some even got killed.

In this regards some people with crooked minds have grabbed the opportunity to spread malwares, trojans and viruses. And take note, THEY ARE ON THE FIRST PAGE of Google search results.

If you Google the above-mentioned terms, you may be directed to harmful sites. See screenshot below.

Ondoy Virus

I’ve been victimized so please spread the word. Please check first if the one you are visiting is an authority site (reliable sites).

It’s better if you have a good antivirus installed or purchase one that is reliable. Thank god I have this installed. Scan your computers now before it’s too late.

Hope you find this helpful. Kindly share to your friends in Twitter and Facebook to warn them.

I don’t know why there are kinds of people who take advantage of situations like this. We need your help! Let’s all pray for the victims of this unfortunate event.

Ronald

Disclaimer:

I don’t claim that the above scanner can remove the virus. It’s just the one installed on my PC since April 2009. And I am not in anyway connected to whoever made the virus. I am a UP Manila Pol Sci graduate and a complete idiot on software stuff. It’s just that I am the first to discover the said issue.

Help me maintain my blog, send me some love. =)

Can you please stop asking celebrities to retweet your post? Yours was so DIFFERENT from the news reports. If you really are to warn them, direct them to the news sites.

Ronald Redito October 3, 2009 at 12:49 AM

Thanks for the repost man. No problem! Let us warn others about it.

Ronald Redito October 3, 2009 at 12:57 AM

No problem man, if you’re unhappy about my post then just leave. No one’s forcing you to visit my site, right? My goal is to let the info out and warn people about the dangers of the virus. If you will notice, I featured this discovery before these news and technological sites. They may even learned about this virus because of my blog, haven’t you realized that.

By the way, keep safe in Nueva Ecija and next time use a working email address. Arayt? Cheers!
