Youtube is celebrating its fifth year in business and I was browsing through the site when I saw their featured videos called “My Youtube Story”. The featured videos where creatively made by Stephen Higgins, a filmmaker based in New York City.
One story caught my attention, the story about Ryan Higa. But who is he aside from being good-looking and look-a-like of Filipino young actor Robi Domingo (PBB Teen Edition)?
Well, I learned that he is YouTube’s most subscribed user of all time (as of May 2010). He has 2,265,541 subscribers as of writing this article. And this intrigued me a lot as a social media practitioner and internet marketing consultant.
Video marketing is one of the most effective marketing tools these days. And being the most subscribed user has a lot of advantages and benefits.
Aside from having fans, he could be an effective endorser of products. Just think of the reach of his videos. Because of this Ryan and his friends became instant celebrities and even made their own movie.
I got hooked and spent hours watching his cool creations.
Here are some of Ryan Higa’s episodes, I’m sure you’ll love them:
How to be Ninja – a video about how to be a ninja.
How to be Gangster – a video about how to be a gangster.
How to be Emo – a video about how to be an emo.

How to be UFC Fighter – a video about how to be a UFC fighter guest starring B.J. Penn. (private)
